International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT)

The International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT) is administered by the Italian Ministry of Education in association with Cambridge Assessment. It tests logical reasoning and subject-specific knowledge with a view to university admissions to study medicine in Italy.

What Cambridge Professional Trainers does for you

Students tackling the IMAT usually need an overall level of at least B2; ideally, they will have a level of at least C1 level in reading.

Our trainers have a long and highly-successful track record in helping students target problem areas and areas of opportunity in the IMAT test.

We take a pragmatic approach to preparation for the exam, zoning in on problematic question types (e.g. critical thinking) or relevant vocabulary fields (school science), or skill shortfalls (especially in reading and processing speed). We provide copious and focussed material for practice outside training sessions, and forensic attention to detail in training sessions, which are designed to be friendly but demanding.

We rapidly identify what it will take to maximise your potential in the IMAT, and map out the optimal approach to get you there.

  • The IMAT is a 100-minute subject-specific test divided into four sections. Section 1 tests logical reasoning and general knowledge, and sections 2,3, and 4 test subject-specific knowledge.

It is a pen-and-paper test, administered at registered centres worldwide.

22 multiple-choice questions testing logical reasoning and general knowledge.
